While Labour fail to act, the Liberal Democrats stand up for the vulnerable in Parliament

21 Jul 2015

http://www.libdems.org.ukWhilst all but 48 Labour MPs sat on their hands and allowed the nodding through of welfare cuts that will hurt the most vulnerable in society, the Liberal Democrats stood up for what is right and sensible in Parliament last night. Every Liberal Democrat MP voted against the cuts, which represent an attack on the working and out of work poor.

Tim Farron MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, spoke against the cuts, which will result in recipients of Employment and Support Allowance seeing their support fall by a third. Tim's Liberal Democrat Colleague, Greg Mulholland MP, raised the particular effects on young people, including the removal of Housing Benefit for people aged 18-21.
