Working Our Way Up Jacobs Ladder...
At a recent Sandgate and West Folkestone Councillors Surgery, a resident had raised with me that the "Jacob's Ladder" footpath rising from Sandgate Hill to the Folkestone School for Girls / Coolinge Lane was fairly overgrown and increasingly slippy underfoot.
Despite attempts by myself and Folkestone and Hythe Council Officers to get it cleaned up we were caught between Kent Highways and Veolia both claiming it was someone else's responsibility. So, this morning, we sorted it ourselves.
Councillor Gary Fuller​ and I joined Giles and Gary from the District Council and a local volunteer, and spent a couple of hours cutting back, shovelling, sweeping, bagging and clearing, and I will say - I think it now looks ACE, and much safer to walk.
Huge thanks to Giles and Gary from FHDC, and to the local volunteer that joined us, and I'm delighted to say I've already been approached today by a couple of residents that have walked down it and also thought it was looking excellent!
We've got a lot of paths in Sandgate that could deal with the "make over" treatment - a few extra pairs of hands each time and we could make access much easier and safer for all.
