Wreath Laying at Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel

FMTMN

A short service of remembrance around the memorial in Capel-le-Ferne gave everyone an opportunity to recall lost friends and to thank the pilots of 70 years ago for their courage and sacrifice. Hundreds of names are written on the wall there to remind us all, of the task undertaken by these brave men.

As I laid a wreath of poppies, time slowed down, and my mind was filled with the pictures of heroism seen so often in films and newsreels. These acts of remembrance are not undertaken lightly and I am grateful for the opportunity to show my respect for those who fought for my freedom.
