All applicants will be "pitching" for their grants to the "You Decide" audience at Pent Valley School on Saturday 7th July. All local residents welcomed to come along, hear the applications, and vote on each bid to decide which groups should get the cash they are bidding for - just turn up! Each group will have strictly 3 minutes to make their case to the audience - no Powerpoint slides: just people telling you WHY their group needs the money and HOW it will help Folkestone West residents.
You Decide takes please on Saturday 7th July 2012 starting at pm at Pent Valley Technology College, Surrenden Road, Folkestone CT19 4ED. The event will end by 4pm.
Folkestone West County Councillor Tim Prater says:
"I'm delighted there have been so many applicants this year, and so many deserving groups running excellent activities that benefit Cheriton, Morehall and Sandgate. Now as a community Folkestone West residents can decide which groups should get funding this time around: that and get to know more about the many excellent groups in the area. Folkestone West is the ONLY area of Shepway and one of a few in the County to give local residents a say in how OUR money is spent and is a MASSIVE success story - I wish more other County Councillors took the same approach.
"Previous 'You Decide' events have seen groups getting to meet each other and start to work together on joint projects in the past: it would be great if that continues. Equally, many of the organisations would LOVE to hear from new people to get involved: why not come along on the day, hear what they do, vote on their applications, and introduce yourself?"
