You Know Where I Stand: Trident Renewal

The House of Commons voted on the future of Trident on the 14th March 2007. I want you to know where I stand.

  • I support the funding of the 'concept and design phase of Trident' but not a decision to renew Trident today.
  • I am neither prepared to compromise our national security nor prejudice the 2010 conference on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
  • I believe a cut in the number of warheads by 50% is both responsible in maintaining our national security and playing our part in multi-lateral nuclear disarmament in 2010.
