News from Tim Prater

Tim is honoured and delighted to have been elected as:

  • Folkestone and Hythe District Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Sandgate & West Folkestone;
  • Sandgate Parish Councillor (Independent) for Sandgate Village;
  • Folkestone Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Folkestone Harvey West;
  • Hythe Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Hythe East.

In May 2023 Tim was re-elected to all the above seats for four more years. At the District Council AGM on 24th May 2023, he became Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance.

Previously, Tim has served on Folkestone Town Councillor for Cheriton from 2006-2011, and Shepway District Councillor for Cheriton from 2007-2011, Kent County Councillor for Folkestone West from 2009-2013. He has sat on Sandgate Parish Council for Sandgate Village since 2011.

The Folkestone Herald reports this week that retailers in Folkestone Town Centre are reporting a huge drop in takings since new on-street parking charges were introduced last month.

Sandgate Transport Needs Survey by the Sandgate Community Trust

All residents of Sandgate are being asked to complete a brief transport survey developed to find out which places you struggle to get to. Do you struggle to use public transport to get to places you need to go - such as the railway station, surgeries, youth clubs, chemists or down to Sandgate Village from the Valley?

Kent Police update September 2012 - Sandgate

In the past month there have been three incidents of criminal damage and one incident of shoplifting on the ward. Kent Police are investigating two reports of nuisance youths in Enbrook Road and the Golden Valley shops, one incident of a nuisance vehicle in Freemantle Road and one incident of obstruction in Castle Road. I have been supplied with some names of those responsible and will be following these up.
