During the recent snow, Kent County Council Leader Paul Carter was urging drivers to keep a set of snow wheels and tyres to cope with heavy snow in future, sayinmg that we can learn from the Scandinavians and that more investment in salting is not the answer.
Some delayed good news (which I missed at the time in something of an email flurry): the Government announced in December that they will be providing local authorities with £800 million over the next four years to fund short breaks for families with disabled children. This represents approximately £200m per year, a £22m year on year increase on 2010 funding.
Families have just two more weeks to submit their child's primary school application.
BBC Political Editor Nick Robinson has written about the bugging and reporting of comments by Vince Cable by two Telegraph undercover reporters. Nick dismisses the revelations that some Lib Dems are not happy with all government policy, saying "the idea that Lib Dems are worried about child benefit and housing cuts would not come as a surprise to anyone who follows politics". Quite.
