Walter Tull was brought up in Folkestone and taught at the Folkestone North Board school, now Mundella Primary School. He became the second black man to play professional football in Britain, when Tottenham Hotspur signed him in the summer of 1909.

It is fascinating to watch a political party gear itself up for an election. And that is what the Lib Dems are doing now. We're all prepared for the European and County elections that are coming up at the beginning of June. And we have high hopes of increasing our representation on Kent County Council and the European Parliament.
It is Thursday 5th March and I am up early with the prospect of driving to Harrogate to attend my first full conference. I am as excited as a small child going on a new adventure. Shepway Council are promoting a series of FREE play events taking place over the Easter holidays across Shepway. The sessions are free of charge, funded by the Big Lottery and staffed by three play workers who facilitate games/play for ALL ages.

Last week the BNP candidate penned a rant of some length to the letters page of the Herald. At times of uncertainty including worries about financial security and employment the BNP will always seek to tap into people's fear for now and the future.
