Detailed research by the Liberal Democrats into the May election results across Shepway has shown that Labour got less that 2% of the valid votes across the district. Labour came SIXTH in terms of their vote across the area, trailing the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats, Shepway Independents, People First and Independents!
Following the disqualification of a Conservative councillor for failing to sign her papers of acceptance, there will be a by-election for Pantiles and St Mark's Ward of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council on 13th September. There are also a series of by-elections in Dover on 27th September: in Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory District Ward, Aylesham District Ward and the Dover Town County Electoral Division. Lib Dem Folkestone Town Councillor Gary Fuller has joined calls for the replacement of the oil drum barrier across Rendezvous Street in the town centre. Cllr Fuller who represents Harvey Central Ward, which covers the town centre area, has had a number of complaints about the barrier, which he described as an eyesore.

Despite writing to Shepway District Council about the shocking state of the Garden of Remembrance over nine months ago, Lib Dem Town Councillor Gary Fuller was upset to find, during the VJ Day Remembrance Service held there on Wednesday, that no action has been taken to repair the damage to the bins or the surrounding wall.
Lib Dem Cheriton Councillor Dhan Gurung has met with the Nepalese Prime Minister, members of the Government and other Party Leaders during his holiday with family in Nepal. Dhan had simply arranged to meet up with family during his stay this August, but was then surprised and delighted to receive the invitations.
Chilham Road residents are asking for double yellow lines in their road to be removed as they have made parking problems in the road much worse.

Lib Dem Councillor for Harvey Central Gary Fuller is calling on Shepway Council to keep Kingsnorth Gardens tidy having been appalled at the amount of broken glass and rubbish during a recent visit. Gary was walking through the park with his wife and young children at just after 11am on Thursday 9th August when he came across an area littered with broken glass, empty beer cans and food wrappings. He was shocked to see that one of the ponds had a number of plastic bags and empty bottles and cans in it as well.
