Hi Rory and Jan,
To: Shepway Planning and Kent Heritage Conservation
Having asked KCC why there are not currently traffic lights on Sandgate Esplanade whilst roadworks (including installation of a new crossing!) are in progress, they've confirmed they will be in place from Monday 6th November.
A number of local residents have mentioned that since Storm Brian, the stretch of the Sandgate beach path from Varne Court to the junction with the Riviera (and the stretch by Coastguard cottages where the path meets Sandgate Explanade) is covered with shingle, making it hazardous for walkers and cyclists.
If a person, or a business, walked down a Shepway street and attached signs to streetlamps and other posts on a regular basis, and didn't take them away again soon afterwards, they could well be prosecuted for flyposting.
Twice a year beach replensighment works take place in the stretch of coast from Folkestone to Hythe, effectively moving the beach back every six months from where the sea and tide have tried to move it! The works are an important part of the sea flood defence works locally, protecting local properties from potential flooding from the sea in particularly high winds and tides.
