Strange Cargo presents a Lantern Parade through Folkestone this Saturday, with children and schools from across Folkestone taking part. This evening the Leas Beacon will be lit for the official hand over from the Folkestone Lions to Folkestone Town Council. This event is open to all and the Town Mayor, Councillor Peter Gane and Town Councillors have invited all local residents to join in the festivities.

EXCLUSIVE: Sandgate Road Could Be Shut "For Months or Longer"

The section of Sandgate Road in Folkestone from its junction with Earls Avenue to the junction with Castle Hill Avenue could be closed for months "if not years" as exploratory work has found major "voids" down the entire stretch, the Shepway Lib Dems have learned. The voids make the road unsafe to HGV traffic, and have been caused by a cracked Southern Water sewer which is leaking at many points down its length.

Re-Open Sandgate Road or Fix it - Now!

One of the main approaches to Folkestone - Sandgate Road - has now been closed to traffic for weeks from the junction with Earls Avenue towards Folkestone. However, a walk down Sandgate Road shows there are is no work going on, no holes in the road, no plant or equipment - nothing.

Post Office Sham

The closure of 5 MORE post offices, now means that the Post Office has closed 15 throughout Shepway since 1999, including the Crown Post Office in Folkestone, which is due to close in March 2008.

Town Council Visit Folkestone Academy

A delegation from Folkestone Town Council today visited the Folkestone Academy for a presentation and guided tour with Principal John Patterson. The £38 million Academy opened in September, and the tour was an opportunity to show off some of the facilities at the school.
