Lib Dems Choose Candidates for 2009 South East England European List

The process for selecting the candidates for the Liberal Democrat list for the South East of England for the European Parliament elections is now well underway. The candidates are: Ben Abbotts, Jim Barnard, Catherine Bearder, Sharon Bowles, David Grace, Simon Green, Antony Hook, Murari Kaushik, Gary Lawson, Martin Lury, Ajmal Masroor, Justine McGuinness, Fiyaz Mughal, Zoe Patrick and John Vincent.

Folkestone in the News: Triennial Launch in the Guardian

The Guardian has covered the launch of the new Folkestone Triennial, saying: "Yesterday the inaugural Folkestone triennial was announced, a public art project to involve commissions by a blue-chip line-up of artists including Tracey Emin, Mark Wallinger, Nathan Coley, Tacita Dean, Richard Wentworth and Richard Wilson from Britain, and international figures such as Mark Dion and Christian Boltanski."

Folkestone Triennial Launched: Tales of Time and Space

The first ever "Folkestone Triennial" has been launched described as "one of the most ambitious public art projects to be presented in the UK". The Triennial is a three yearly exhibition of works which will be specially created for 23 public spaces across Folkestone, and many of which will be left in place after the end of the event. The first event will take place in summer 2008.

Open Championship Golf Tournament to return to Kent in 2011

The Royal and Ancient has confirmed Royal St George's in Sandwich, Kent as the venue for the 2011 Open Championship - one of Golf's most prestigious competitions. The last time the Open was held at Royal St George's in 2003, when the tournament was won by American Ben Curtis, proved to be a major boost to local tourism and hotels across Kent including Folkestone & Hythe.

Tesco Store

Consultation Announced on Cheriton Tesco Expansion Plan

Tesco has announced plans to extend it's store in Cheriton, Folkestone, and will will be launching an exhibition of the proposals in the store next month. The proposed expansion of the store would increase the current floor area from around 6,500 sq. metres with 401 car parking spaces to 10,200 sq. metres with 633 parking spaces.
