New Shepway Council Tax Exemption

A new class of council tax exemption has been introduced by Shepway Council. It adds to the exemption already in place that waives council tax on a property left empty because someone has had to leave it to care for a person who is old, disabled or ill. The new exemption will cover a home left empty when someone has to move out to provide care for children.

By law, Shepway Council is required to carry out a review of Polling Districts and Polling Places on a regular four-yearly cycle. The Council has now commenced the first stage of public consultations in respect of this occasion's review and we are currently interested in hearing your views.

Herald Group: Under New Management

Kent Regional Newspapers, the group which owns the Folkestone, Hythe and Romney Marsh "Herald" newspapers amongst others, has been bought by Northcliffe Media from previous owners Trinity Mirror.

New Royal Mail Strike Confirmed

The CWU (Communication Workers Union) has given notice to the Royal Mail of further strike action. The strike will start at 7pm on Thursday July 12th 2007, and continue through Friday 13th July.
