Shepway anti-ID Card campaigners have welcomed the support of Labour rebels as the Government majority for ID cards fell to a new low in yesterdays vote in Parliament. The latest vote on ID Cards Bill saw the Government majority cut from 67 to 31.

Folkestone Nite Rider: Reducing Crime but Under Threat

The 'Nite Rider' bus service which offers a cheap ride home to Folkestone clubbers could be scrapped - despite police evidence showing reductions in criminal damage and assaults. New Harbour Town Councillor Emily Sanger has supported the service, and wants to see it continued.

Local Lib Dems Sam Matthews and Darren Briddock are opposing Labour plans for ID cards. A report by the influential London School of Economics prices the ID card system as costing up to £18 billion - £300 for every person in the country.

The number of households in temporary accommodation nationally was 101,070 at the end of March 2005 - remaining at the same level for three consecutive quarters. The Government's homelessness strategy 'Sustainable Communities: settled homes; changing lives' aims to cut this number by half by 2010.

A Winner for Harbour: Emily says "Thank You!"

Emily Sanger has thanked Harbour residents for their support in the Harbour ward by-election. Emily was elected as the new Town Councillor for Harbour with 54% of the vote. The by-election was called following the resignation of the sitting Folkestone Town Councillor.
