Always an honour to attend the Canada Day parade to Shorncliffe Cemetery and watch the children place flowers on the graves. This year, on the 100th anniversary of the start of the event, it felt even more special to lay the wreath on behalf of Sandgate Parish Council.
Lib Dem Councillor Gary Fuller has reacted with horror to a report in the Independent of a survey of mothers between the ages of 18 and 30 by the Young Women's Trust that has found that a quarter are skipping meals every day to provide for their children, while half skip meals at least once a week.

We're really sorry to have heard that former Lib Dem Sandgate Parish Councillor Ann Rimmer died yesterday after a short battle with cancer.
In the first ever full council debate on the future of Princes Parade, Folkestone and Hythe District Council passed a motion to Save Princes Parade from development and instead build a new swimming pool and leisure centre at Martello Lakes. The motion was proposed by Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater and seconded by Green Councillor Lesley Wybrow, ond was won by 15 votes to 14.
Brian Copping served as a Councillor for Foord ward on Shepway District Council for around 30 years, and also Folkestone Town Council for eight years. He sadly passed away around 30 May.
Kent County Council have closed Folkestone Library on Grace Hill due to the impact of water leaks at Folkestone Library on the fabric of the building and central electrics.
The Public Accounts Committee, of which Lib Dem MP Layla Moran is a member, has published a report today describing NHS waiting times as "unacceptable" and in a "downward spiral" and warned patients are at added risk of harm.
