Charivari Day 2014 is nearly here...

Saturday 12th July is the date of the wonderful Day carnival in Folkestone. This year the hundreds of dazzling costumes celebrate our beautiful local coastline, landscape and wildlife. They will be parading from The Stade fishmarket to the Leas Bandstand from 2pm, accompanied by a fabulous line up of raucous drumming bands.

My proposal that Shepway Council start the use of gull proof bags has been picked up by the KM Express this week, and run alongside pictures of seagull ripped bags and rubbish strewn streets from across the area.

Free Remembrance Poppy Making Workshop

The Purl Queens have been invited by Folkestone Town Council to carry out a knitting workshop at the Town Hall. Children and adults are invited to knit a poppy for the Road of Remembrance. Instruction will be given. Suitable for adults and children aged 9 and above.

The Sandgate Parish Planning Committee unanimously objected to the first stage of the Shorncliffe Barracks development on Tuesday night. The grounds for objecting, which were based upon a discussion document produced by Planning Committee Chair Gary Fuller, were:
