News from Tim Prater

Tim is honoured and delighted to have been elected as:

  • Folkestone and Hythe District Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Sandgate & West Folkestone;
  • Sandgate Parish Councillor (Independent) for Sandgate Village;
  • Folkestone Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Folkestone Harvey West;
  • Hythe Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Hythe East.

In May 2023 Tim was re-elected to all the above seats for four more years. At the District Council AGM on 24th May 2023, he became Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance.

Previously, Tim has served on Folkestone Town Councillor for Cheriton from 2006-2011, and Shepway District Councillor for Cheriton from 2007-2011, Kent County Councillor for Folkestone West from 2009-2013. He has sat on Sandgate Parish Council for Sandgate Village since 2011.

A Kent resident has received a call from the Barrington Group, a financial firm based in New York offering to buy shares at grossly inflated prices. The sellers are asked to sign a variety of paperwork in addition to paying 'a refundable bond' of several thousands of pounds, as a gesture of good will.

The Food Standards Agency is warning people not to consume certain branded foods that have been linked to an outbreak of botulism in France. Botulism is a rare but serious illness that causes muscle weakness and breathing problems, and can be fatal.

Hoax warning of the day: a reverse PIN will not help you

Kent Trading Standards has been contacted by a concerned resident after they received a "hoax email" purporting to be from Crime Stoppers. The email states that "if forced by a robber to withdraw monies, the victim can notify the bank they are under duress and alert the Police by entering their PIN number in reverse."

Overnight work to resurface A20 near Folkestone

Overnight work starting Monday (12 September 2011) on the eastbound A20 near Folkestone, in Kent will involve resurfacing sections of the carriageway, replacing road studs, and repainting road markings between junction 13 of the M20 and the A20 junction with the B2011.
