Sandgate Beach has been awarded a 2013 Seaside Award by "Keep Britain Tidy" - one of only 113 English beaches to gain the award this year.

In May 2023 Tim was re-elected to all the above seats for four more years. At the District Council AGM on 24th May 2023, he became Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance.
Previously, Tim has served on Folkestone Town Councillor for Cheriton from 2006-2011, and Shepway District Councillor for Cheriton from 2007-2011, Kent County Councillor for Folkestone West from 2009-2013. He has sat on Sandgate Parish Council for Sandgate Village since 2011.

Good News Stories: PCSO Mark Ball attended the One Stop in Cheriton Road in relation to a report of Robbery. From viewing the stores CCTV Officer Ball was able to ascertain the direction of travel before and after the event. From checking other local stores CCTV footage it was determined that the original target had been The Coop. Footage shows the male suspect attempting to enter the store just before they were scheduled to open and upon being unable to gain access proceeded to the One Stop. This investigation is currently on going.
Kent Police are advising elderly residents to be on their guard after a number of bogus caller incidents in the Shepway area.
Strong winds in Sandgate last night on the eve of a recycling collection has shown up the boxes issued to many as "not fit for purpose". Litter and waste was blown from boxes in Sandgate High Street, leaving the area looking devastated and in need of a major clear-up.
