West Hythe worries as KCC can't fund traffic scheme

Residents are concerned as vehicles continue to speed along West Hythe Road. Following a meeting with Kent Highways it became clear the funding of a traffic calming scheme would prove difficult. Even providing a modern and inexpensive, solar-powered vehicle speed indicator will not be forthcoming from the County funds.

Prater and Dean Push for Fuller Disclosure of Kent County Council Expenditure

Liberal Democrat County Councillors Tim Prater and Trudy Dean have submitted a motion to the next full Kent County Council meeting calling for all items of revenue expenditure by the Council above £1,000 to be published. The proposals mirror the actions of the Greater London Authority, who took a similar step after Mayor Boris Johnson was elected.

Sandgate Society Event: Apollo13 remembered

On March 17th at 7.30pm, Reg Turnill will be at the Chichester Memorial Hall, Sandgate, giving an account of how Apollo 13 was crippled by an explosion on the way to the moon in 1970, as told by the BBC correspondent who was there as the excitement unfolded.
