Ministers are to consider plans for a database of electronic information holding details of every phone call and e-mail sent in the UK, it has emerged. The plans, reported in the Times, are at an early stage and may be included in the draft Communications Bill later this year, the Home Office confirmed.
Folkestone East ward Councillor Anthony Dunning has resigned from the Liberal Democrats, and the Liberal Democrat group on Shepway District Council. Sandgate residents are questioning the validity of the vote taken at the Sandgate Town Council AGM on Tuesday evening that saw Geoffrey Boot become elected as Sandgate Mayor.
Well over 100 Sandgate residents attended the Sandgate Town Meeting at Sandgate Library on Tuesday evening to call for a referendum on changing Sandgate back from a "Town" administration to a "Parish" one. The referendum was agreed after a huge vote in support at the meeting.
Harbour Councillor Sue Wallace is furious after Shepway Council keep failing to properly clear up the Folkestone seafront and harbour area, and especially at the foot of Folkestone's Road of Remembrance at the back of Marine Terrace.
Works were due to start on the M20 on 6th May in both directions between junction 11 & 12 (Hythe to Folkestone) and are expected to last 13 weeks. The works are being carried out to allow for a moveable barrier machine to be used for the implementation of Phase 1 of Operation Stack.
