The key Kent School Organisation Advisory Board (SOAB) meets this Thursday 7 September in Maidstone to consider the future of Harcourt and Morehall Primary Schools in Folkestone. Kent had proposed the "merger" of the two schools onto the Morehall school site, closing Harcourt Primary School, and have been strongly opposed by local parents, residents and the Shepway Lib Dem team amongst others.

As a comparison, Shepway District Council has a budget of £16.2 million a year, and spends on average £44,383 a DAY. The pedestrian safety barrier outside St Martins School on Horn Street in Folkestone has been repaired. The barriers had been damaged for some months, and were fixed after a report from Cheriton Town Councillor Tim Prater to Kent Highway Services.
The 2006 NatWest Student Money Matters survey reveals that sixth formers starting university this year expect to pay £33,512 for a three-year degree course. This is up from £28,600 last year and includes the new tuition fees. As a result, they expect to graduate with £14,779 of debt, an increase of £1,099 on 2005 figures.
Today the Liberal Democrat tax commission unveiled its proposals for a fairer, greener and simpler tax system. The tax commission's proposals will be voted on at the Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference in September.
