Winning for Bromley - from Shepway

The Lib Dem team from Folkestone and Hythe have been celebrating the huge swing to the Lib Dems at the Bromley By-election. Past Folkestone Lib Dem Agent Shaun Roberts was the mastermind on the Lib Dem campaign, which saw the 17th safest Tory seat in the country turned into a wafer-thin 633 majority.

Folkestone & Hythe Sports Centre Funding Farce

Plans for the proposed new Sports centres in Folkestone and Hythe are in crisis. The new facilities are to be funded using the Governments Private Finance Initiative (PFI) Scheme. However, changes to this very complex scheme have meant that at this late stage the Council will may not be able to produce enough funds to make the scheme possible.

Park Ward Lib Dem Cllr Lynne Beaumont has slammed the County Council's decision to close Broadmeadow Care Home and move its vulnerable residents. Broadmeadow will be demolished to make way for an entrance and car park for the new Academy.

Lib Dems Back YES vote in Hythe Sports Centre Referendum

Mayor of Hythe Neil Matthews and the Liberal Democrats have called on Hythe residents to back plans for new Sports Centres in Hythe and Folkestone. A Hythe Town Meeting has called a special referendum on the future of Hythe Sports Centre. The poll is independent of Hythe Town Council and will be held on 29 June.
