Shepway MEP shows Red Card to Child Labour
Sharon Bowles, South East Liberal Democrat MEP and long term member of anti-slavery international, today backed the International Labour Organisation's (ILO) global "Red Card to Child Labour" Campaign, on the World Day against Child Labour. Through partnership with FIFA, the campaign has reached millions of people around the world, since its launch in 2002.

Official: They Just DON'T Care
A recent spot check on a Folkestone Town Centre car park confirms the decline in our area. Shellons Street car park near Guildhall Street was selected at random, but the check revealed at least seven major issues with the state of the car park, from litter to graffiti, uncut verges to damaged kerbs.

About Time! Graffiti Removed from Church Road Bus Stop
Shepway Council have had the graffiti removed from the bus stop in Church Road near the Horn Street junction. This issue was reported to the Council most recently on 12 May by Tim Prater, and has taken nearly TWO MONTHS to get resolved.

Valebrook Close Tree Removal Plan Rejected
Shepway Council has rejected a planning application to remove trees and bushes from a site between Valebrook Close and Horn Street. The rejection on Wednesday has been welcomed by Valebrook Close residents who had objected to the proposals, and many of whom where at the meeting.

The final three candidates for the next Conservative PPC for Folkestone and Hythe are reported to be Harriett Baldwin (stood and lost in Stockton North in North East England in 2005), Laura Sandys (Political Consultant) and Damian Collins (stood and lost in Northampton North in the East Midlands in 2005).

Winning for Bromley - from Shepway
The Lib Dem team from Folkestone and Hythe have been celebrating the huge swing to the Lib Dems at the Bromley By-election. Past Folkestone Lib Dem Agent Shaun Roberts was the mastermind on the Lib Dem campaign, which saw the 17th safest Tory seat in the country turned into a wafer-thin 633 majority.
