News from Tim Prater

Tim is honoured and delighted to have been elected as:

  • Folkestone and Hythe District Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Sandgate & West Folkestone;
  • Sandgate Parish Councillor (Independent) for Sandgate Village;
  • Folkestone Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Folkestone Harvey West;
  • Hythe Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Hythe East.

In May 2023 Tim was re-elected to all the above seats for four more years. At the District Council AGM on 24th May 2023, he became Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance.

Previously, Tim has served on Folkestone Town Councillor for Cheriton from 2006-2011, and Shepway District Councillor for Cheriton from 2007-2011, Kent County Councillor for Folkestone West from 2009-2013. He has sat on Sandgate Parish Council for Sandgate Village since 2011.

Southeastern say: If you're in London, get home NOW

Update from Southeastern trains, Midday, 1 December: We are advised by the Met Office that more snow is expected today and rail services in and out of London are likely to be severely disrupted. Our advice to commuters using Southeastern services who managed to get into work today, is to leave London as early as possible.

William Wilberforce plaque in Sandgate

Sandgate commemorates William Wilberforce

Today a plaque, designed and funded by the Sandgate Society to commemorate William Wilberforce's part in the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in 1807, was erected on the North Lane side of the Sandgate Chichester Hall.

New Tourism guide showcases Shepway

A new edition of the Folkestone, Hythe & Romney Marsh holiday and leisure planner is in circulation. Following its launch last month to showcase Shepway's tourism potential to major UK and foreign tour operators attending London's World Travel Market (November 8 -11), the 32-page full-colour guide is now in process of distribution via strategic tourist information centres and other outlets in Britain and the near-Continent.
