Kent Highways have notified that it is necessary to close Crete Road West, Folkestone from 10 February 2011 for up to 2 days. This is to enable essential carriageway repairs and resurfacing to be carried out on behalf of Kent Highway Services.

The Folkestone Winter Shelter has helped 29 people with overnight accommodation, food and support in just 7 weeks. The shelter provides a place to stay for those who would otherwise sleep rough. Kent Highways have advised it will be necessary to close Rectory Lane, Brookland for BT tree-cutting and aerial cabling works. The road will be closed from 9 February 2011 for up to 3 days, between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm, and re-opened outside these hours. The alternative route is via Oldhouse Lane, Carter Lane and King Street.
