Make Yourself Heard in Lydd Airport Hearing

The Public Inquiry on the expansion of Lydd Airport planning applications is now underway. Hearings started formally on 15th February and are expected to take up to 12 weeks. The cost to Shepway taxpayers is expected to be at least £250,000.

Absentee Conservative Loses Seat

Conservative Shepway District Councillor Toby Clifton-Holt has lost his Council seat after it emerged there was no record of him having attended a single Shepway Council meeting for SIX months!

Streetlights out at J12 of the M20

A number of streetlights round the East side of M20 J12 roundabout, including the slip road off the motorway from Dover and the lights around the corner onto Cheriton High St to the BP garage, are currently not working.

Streetlights on The Undercliffe, Sandgate

The streetlights not working (which is all of them!) on The Undercliffe, Sandgate, have been reported to Kent Highways by Folkestone West County Councillor Tim Prater. The lights went out on 4th February and reported soon after. Kent Highways sent an engineer to the road on Tuesday 8th February and diagnosed a cable fault.

Shepway's Potty Parking

Shepway Council are planning yet another raid on the pockets of local motorists. The Conservative budget for next year adds ANOTHER 10p per hour to parking charges, raising them to an eyewatering £1.20 an hour.
