FREE Eastbourne Breaks on offer to Folkestone over-60's

The National Benevolent Fund for the Aged have announced that Folkestone will be one of the pick-ups points for their Eastbourne 2008 Autumn Break. To qualify for a free break, the applicant must be over 60 years old, on a low income, not had a holiday for at least 3 years, able to get on and off a coach, manage steps & care for themselves.

Home Insulation from just £199: Over 70's FREE!

Loft and cavity wall insulation is now available for £199, for a typical property, under a new initiative from EDF Energy and Kent Action to Save Heat (KASH), with local residents over 70 years old offered free insulation, regardless of their income.

Potholes on the Bayle

Fuller Shocked over Awful State of the Bayle and The Parade

Local Campaigner Gary Fuller was shocked to see the state of the road in both the Parade and the Bayle last week. He was appalled at the number of potholes affecting both roads, noting that there were barely any flat surfaces on either of the roads. He has since reported both roads to Kent Highways for immediate action.

At long last, South Eastern Trains has carried out refurbishments at Folkestone West. Lib Dem councillor Tom McNeice began a campaign eighteen months ago, pressing for improvements to the station area, and especially to the subway under the railway lines.
