Kent Trading Standards wish to alert the public to a recent incidence of unsolicited telephone calls targeted at elderly residents across the County. The phone calls are from a security system company who use very hard sell tactics and lies in order to obtain an appointment at the consumer's home.
Kent Trading Standards are warning of a new scam targeting local residents selling cars. One consumer was recently cold called by telephone after advertising her car for sale in a popular car selling magazine. She was told that there were people who wanted to buy her car and if a payment of £99.50 was made there and then, the trader would put the buyers in touch with the seller.

Kent Community Recycling offers a business waste recycling service to businesses in Folkestone and Hythe. The East Kent Hospitals Trust have announced that they will be applying for Foundation Trust Status in 2008. East Kent Hospitals Trust is one of the largest hospital Trusts in the country, providing services from five hospitals and several outpatient settings. There will be a public meeting in Folkestone to discuss the proposals on 25th February.
