I was recently called by Meridian TV to discuss the state of Kent's roads, and the backlog of repairs needed in the area. There has been a recent AA report about a £200 million repair backlog across the Country, and here in Kent, a massive £27.8 million has recently been spent not on road repairs, but on merging the existing highways offices into 2 "super-depots" - a plan that seems to generate no direct cost savings!
The party's spring conference will see a major debate on a set of new health policy proposals, which were published by the party's health policy working group in January. Norman Lamb, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Health, will be taking part in an online discussion next Tuesday to enable members to raise any questions ahead of the conference debate.

Park Ward Folkestone Town Councillors, Bev Rolfe, Maggie Sheldrake and Lynne Beaumont, in conjunction with Broadmead Village Residents Association, held a Community Christmas Party for Park Ward residents in Perries Mead on Friday 7th December with the aid of a Town Council ward grant.

A Met Office Severe Weather Warning has been issued for Kent, saying that gale force southwesterly winds are expected during much of the daytime on Thursday across Kent. Gusts of 70 mph are possible at times, especially near the coast.
This weekend, Cheriton in Folkestone becomes the centre of the ongoing fight to get a fair deal on pensions and citizenship rights for ex-Gurkha soldiers. Folkestone's main post office will re-open in WHSmith's in Sandgate Road on March 6, replacing the existing post office in Bouverie Place. The move comes despite wide spread local resistance to the move, which will see the main Bouverie Place office close.
