Shingle on Sandgate Maintenance Gangway / Coastal path

A number of local residents have mentioned that since Storm Brian, the stretch of the Sandgate beach path from Varne Court to the junction with the Riviera (and the stretch by Coastguard cottages where the path meets Sandgate Explanade) is covered with shingle, making it hazardous for walkers and cyclists.

Sandgate Beach replenishment works (heavy plant moving shingle)

Autumn 2017 Folkestone to Hythe Beach Replenishment Works

Twice a year beach replensighment works take place in the stretch of coast from Folkestone to Hythe, effectively moving the beach back every six months from where the sea and tide have tried to move it! The works are an important part of the sea flood defence works locally, protecting local properties from potential flooding from the sea in particularly high winds and tides.

Road Closure - Horn Street, Folkestone / Hythe: 23-28 October 2017

Kent County Council has advised that Horn Street, will be closed to through traffic, from Monday 23 October 2017 for up to 5 days, between the hours of 09:00 hours and 16:30 hours each day. The road will be closed in phases between the junctions of Church Road and A259 Seabrook Road.
