Liberal Democrats publish 10-Point Plan, calling for a referendum on Manston Airport's future
In response to the chaos at Thanet District Council reported by local media this week, the two Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidates for North and South Thanet - George Cunningham and Russ Timpson - launched a ten point plan today to put the future of Manston Airport on much more solid footing.

£250m deal will help safeguard our post offices
A crucial lifeline has been thrown to post offices in East Kent thanks to a major Government contract. The deal, unveiled by Liberal Democrat pensions minister Steve Webb, offers support to disabled people and the elderly while also helping to protect the future of the post office network.

Stars re-record hit song for the Shorncliffe Trust and the British Red Cross
On the 100th anniversary of the Christmas Day Truce, during World War One, which inspired The Farm's 1990 hit All Together Now, many of the UK's biggest music stars have united as The Peace Collective, to re-record the song. The new track features a backing choir of schoolboy footballers from the Premier League and German Bundesliga. All profits from the release, out December 15th, will go to the Shorncliffe Trust and the British Red Cross.

Southeastern announce below inflation 2015 fare rise and extension of "Super Off-Peak" fares
Southeastern today announced a freeze on super off peak fares for 2015 that will cut the cost of more than one million off peak journeys for passengers in Kent and East Sussex. The company is also making the special fares available on more routes, including High Speed service HS1.
