Speaking on behalf of Shepway Liberal Democrats Peter Carroll has slammed last nights vote on tuition fees as a complete betrayal of the interests of students and parents across the County.

Shepway Lib Dem campaigner Peter Carroll has asked the Environment Agency to prosecute Southern Water for failing to install Mains Drainage in the town of New Romney, Kent. Over 600 properties are still without mains drainage despite decades of promises. A recently proposed scheme is still not underway after nearly 3 years.

Residents face a big Council Tax rise as the Council has to find money to cover a £700,000 hole in Council finances left by the previous Conservative administration. Leader of Shepway District Council, Cllr Linda Cufley, will today announce the Council Tax increase for next year, as part of a four year financial plan for the district.
Shepway Council is cutting costs in a bid to ease the financial crisis left behind by the Conservatives.
The Government has still not done enough to stop serious problems with school budgets continuing next year, according to Folkestone MEP Chris Huhne.
Lib Dem campaigners are calling on Tony Blair to axe the Council Tax. Peter Carroll said, "Council Tax is an unfair tax that is hurting many people across Shepway. We should axe the tax and replace it with a system based on ability to pay."
