Warning: Fake Door-to-door Debt Collectors

Kent Trading Standards have received a report of a resident in Ashford being cold called on the 8 January. The caller claimed to be a debt collection agent. When the consumer asked to see his ID card he waved it at her and then put it away. He said he needed cash or a bank card.

Kent Police update January 2012 - Sandgate

During December there were no reported incidents of theft or criminal damage in the ward. Police responded to vehicle obstruction issues in Military Road, Meadowbrook Court, Radnor Cliff Road and Castle Road. There have also been several reports of abandoned vehicles in the ward and these details have been passed to the local Council.

20mph zones can cut casualties by 40%

A report in the Independent suggests that road casualties could be cut by 40% by the introduction of 20mph limits in built-up areas. 20mph zones also have strong support amongst voters according to a ComRes opinion poll.

Grasmere Gardens Path Reconstruction Works from 7 January

Kent Highways are planning to carry out footway reconstruction works along the entire length of Grasmere Gardens. These works involve the replacement of the existing footway surface with a newly constructed bituminous layer, together with some kerb works.

Coolinge Lane Path Reconstruction Works from 4 February

Kent Highways are planning to carry out footway reconstruction works in Coolinge Lane. These works involve the replacement of the existing footway surface with a newly constructed asphalt layer, together with localised kerb replacement works and new pedestrian guard railing.

On 18th January 2013, Sandgate Parish Council are running a trip to Sangatte to celebrate our village's twinning links. Few twinning arrangements have a closer local bond - on a clear day, you can *almost* see Sangatte across the channel!
