It's been a long time since I sat in school chairs in a school hall to watch a production! What made this so different was that it was a musical by both parents, staff, governors and children of St Peter's School, East Cliff, Folkestone.

Young people from Folkestone gathered at the Ashford International Hotel to receive their well earned Tri-Angle 2010 awards, and I was delighted to accept the invitation to be present for the occasion.
Three soldiers from the 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles have been killed in Afghanistan after a "renegade" Afghan soldier turned and opened fire on them. Other soldiers are reported to be injured. The 1st Battalion have been based in Shorncliffe barracks on the Folkestone / Sandgate border since 2000.
Kent County Council have announced that they have finished the short-listing process of the companies who expressed an interest in the core highways maintenance contract. The core maintenance contract is currently provided in partnership with Ringway, and was put out to tender a few months ago.

Kent County Council have published expense and allowance figures for Kent County Councillors in 2009-10 which show Folkestone West County Councillor Tim prater as one of 8 serving County Councillors who claimed no expenses for mileage, fares or subsistence in 2009-10.
Following discussions with other interested parties in Sandgate, Sandgate resident David Cowell has decided to invoke Section 15 of the Commons Act 2006. This allows Kent County Council to declare the site a 'village green' and, as such, protect it, in perpetuity, against any development.
The new Sandgate Parish Plan, put together by the Parish Plan Working Group after extensive consultation with Sandgate residents, has now been published and a limited distribution has been undertaken. The plan identifies local residents priorities for the Sandgate area, covering areas including the environment, planning and traffic.
Once again the Cinque Port Dignitaries gathered at the invitation of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports at Walmer Castle. Lord Boyce hosted a function to enable him to meet the newly elected Mayors and to speak of the plans for the area.
Because of urgent carriageway repairs and resurfacing, North Road, Cheriton will be closed to through traffic between the junctions with Military Road and North Close.
